CLC, often in collaboration with other environmental organizations, regularly submits comments on pending air, water, waste, and land remediation permits that impact our clients and other residents in Northwest Indiana. We advocate for stronger pollution limitations, better operating and maintenance practices, and more stringent monitoring, recordkeeping, and reporting requirements. Through these comments, we work to bring permits in line with federal and state environmental laws, to maximize the protections they offer for public health and the environment, and to raise public awareness of the multiple sources of air and water pollution in the Region.
Our recent permit comments have included:
-
- 2026.05.08 Draft Pollutant Minimization Program Plan (a required component of an application to renew a Streamlined Mercury Variance) for W.R. Grace & Co.
- 2026.06.15 Application to Renew Permit for Land Application of Biosolids by Sanitary District of Hammond
- 2026.02.11 CAA Permit Renewal for a petroleum bulk terminal facility operated by Buckeye Pipeline in Hammond
