President & CEO, Wild Birds Unlimited

In 1981, Jim opened a small retail shop in Indianapolis named Wild Birds Unlimited. This unique shop specialized in all of the supplies that help people attract and enjoy birds in their backyard.

Today, Jim is President & CEO of the employee-owned Wild Birds Unlimited franchise company with over 365 franchise Wild Birds Unlimited stores in the United States and Canada.

Wild Birds Unlimited’s #1 goal is to Bring People and Nature Together and to help their customers Save the Song Birds by creating the proper habitats at their home and in their community. Jim and his wife Nancy have promoted and conserved habitat for birds and other wildlife in Indiana and Colorado, most recently working with the Town of Zionsville, IN to create a new 215 acre park named The Carpenter Nature Preserve. Jim has served for many years on the Administrative Board of the Cornell Lab of Ornithology and is a Life Trustee for The Nature Conservancy of Indiana.
