Official celebrations for the occasion will take place at the Water for People Run for World Water in Indianapolis and Pridefest in Bloomington. Partner organizations include Conservation Law Center, Water For People, Indiana Water Environment Association, and Indiana Section of the American Water Works Association, and Friends of Lake Monroe. Come out and celebrate with fellow Hoosiers!
Water Quality Day is a campaign to raise awareness of water as an irreplaceable resource and promotes safe practices for water sources. Preventative measures should be taken to ensure that Indiana’s waterways maintain their recreational, commercial, and household use. More information can be found at WQM18.org.
Other ways to celebrate include sharing photos of Indiana’s beautiful landscapes, learning more about the importance of clean water, and enjoying a kayak trip down a local stream.
Indianapolis Mayor Joe Hogsett, Bloomington Mayor John Hamilton, and the Monroe County Commissioners have each delivered proclamations to highlight the significance of the day.
