During her time at CLC, Alexis provided support on various matters, notably regarding Public Trust law and doctrine, and had an article on the public trust doctrine published in a law journal. Alexis also had a lasting impact through her training of CLC interns who will be future conservation law advocates.
Alexis elected to teach a fall seminar on Southern Resident killer whales that challenged our clinic interns to investigate law and policy regarding threatened and endangered species. They discussed several legal circumstances involving the Endangered Species Act and questioned the phrase and concept “best available science.” The concepts learned in this seminar apply to many legal conservation issues.
CLC appreciated Alexis’s consistent insightfulness and capacity. We were happy to watch her join a leading organization whose scope of work pertains to conservation law and policy.
