These policies aim to provide guidance as to different ways the Indiana legislature can solve some of the most pressing water quality and water planning challenges our state faces. By developing a scientifically-supported definition of PFAS to include in our environmental statutes, Indiana would be in a better position to protect its citizens from the dangers PFAS pose to public health and the environment. Similarly, by developing the Indiana Water Authority, or otherwise designating an entity to oversee statewide water resource planning, Indiana would be able to engage in water quality, quantity, and infrastructure planning that has a clear vision for the entire State, while still acknowledging that different water needs across the state call for regionalized planning in conjunction with the statewide vision.
