The Conservation Law Center provides legal counsel without charge to conservation organizations, works to improve conservation law and policy, and offers law students clinical experience in the practice of law and the profession's public service tradition. Over its twelve year history, it has served more than 150 conservation organizations and provided counsel in over 250 legal matters, from litigation to document drafting and from tax to water policy. The Center has offices at the Indiana University Maurer School of Law in Bloomington, and at the Indiana University McKinney School of Law in Indianapolis.
Happy New Year! What a time to reflect. On last year's list of matters, we saw a theme: water. Water conservation requires our attention as we look to the future. To address the demands of a changing climate, rapid development, crumbling natural and manmade infrastructures, and other issues, we published and promoted a technical study on the state of Indiana's water resources, celebrated water during our first Water Quality Month, and represented several clients on matters that affect water quality.
This year we also represented clients on forest, land, and threatened species matters and hired two new Graduate Fellow Attorneys to help meet our growing workload. We expect 2018 to be just as- if not more- busy than 2017. Thank you for your support of conservation and making this work possible.
